Ruth Carroll Rigby passed away peacefully into heaven on February 18, 2023. She was born February 10, 1929 in Lundell, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Oscar and Lela Carroll and was raised in Walthall, MS. After graduating from Eupora High School, she attended Wood Jr. College and went on to graduate from Delta State University. While teaching at Holcomb High School, she met the love of her life, Bill Rigby. They married in 1952, then moved to Clarksdale where Ruth taught in the Coahoma County School System. In 1964, the family moved to Jackson where she became an active member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. She taught kindergarten at the church and volunteered in the nursery for over thirty years. Ruth enjoyed reading, cooking, and taking very good care of her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Lela Carroll, her daughter Laura Rigby Duke, her granddaughter Lindsay Boggan, her brother Floyd Carroll and her sister Melba Tindle. Ruth is survived by her husband of seventy years, Bill Rigby, son Jim Rigby (Marae) of Madison, son Perry Rigby of Gluckstadt, grandchildren Kimberly Boggan, Erin Rigby Perry (Stampley), Jennifer Rigby Benedict (John), great-grandchildren Madisyn Sanford, Harper Perry, Emma Perry, Thomas Benedict and Will Benedict. Visitation will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison, MS followed by a funeral service at 12:00. Memorials may be sent to Colonial Heights Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
