Obituary of Richard Lee Eaton
Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard (Rick) Lee Eaton, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 66 on January 27, 2025.
He was born to the late Herbert and Marjorie Eaton on January 29, 1958, in Huntington, West Virginia. As a young man he excelled in tennis, ranking as one of the top players in the state. Rick met Robin, the love of his life, in high school. After graduating, he attended Marshall University, where he played collegiate tennis, continued dating Robin, and impressively completed his degree in just 2.5 years. A week after graduating, he married Robin and earned his CPA designation shortly thereafter.
Rick and Robin lived in Pennsylvania, Florida, and Louisiana where he served as CFO for several ministries before starting his own CPA firm in Jackson, Mississippi. Rick provided CPA services to Morgan White Group before selling his firm and becoming a partner at MWG, where he worked for the past 25 years.
Rick was a man of many talents and interests. He was an IFR-certified pilot and helicopter pilot, and in his earlier years he enjoyed playing golf, racquetball, and tennis. He faithfully led a men’s Bible study in Jackson for the past 25 years. He was passionate about supporting missions for the kingdom of God and had great compassion for ones that helped children. Rick loved traveling, spending time with his family, and he was an active member of Word of Life Church.
In 2020, Rick became a published author with the release of Money with a Purpose, a book chronicling his personal lessons from a life patterned after Psalm 112.
Rick is survived by his wife of 46 years, Robin Eaton; his sons, Ryan Eaton (wife Amanda) and Alan Eaton (wife Lily); and his four grandsons, Carter Lee Eaton, Eli Parker Eaton, Mason Lee Eaton, and Liam Richard Eaton. He is also survived by his twin sisters, Margaret Reichenbecher (husband Vern) and Jean Somerville, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins in West Virginia, Virginia, Mississippi, and Hong Kong.
Visitation will be at the Word of Life Church Flowood campus Thursday January 30, 2025, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm and again on Friday at the church from 10:00am until 11:00am. The funeral service will begin at 11:15am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Missions sponsored by Word of Life Church (www.thelife.cc/rickeaton).
