Karon Berniece West, 64, of Madison, MS, was called up to heaven this past Saturday, February 1st, 2025. Karon was born into the family of James Etheridge and Julia Ann Nelson on November 5th, 1960. After graduating from Newton High School, she then went on to attend secretarial school in Jackson, MS. She was most recently employed as a legal secretary by Wells Marble & Hurst PLLC in Ridgeland, MS, and worked part time with Herring, Long, & Crews of Canton, MS. The greatest joy in her life was spending time with her family, especially with her children and her granddaughter. Her Granddaughter, Mary Anna, was considered by Karon as the light of her life. Mary Anna affectionately referred to her as “Kay Kay”. Also, she greatly enjoyed sending her children humorous posts on Facebook to brighten their days. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, James Etheridge and Julia Ann Nelson, and by her mother-in-law, Bobby West. She is survived by her husband Tom West, her daughter Amy (Matt) Perry, her son Tommy West, her granddaughter Mary Anna Perry, her brother Gale (Dianne) Nelson, her sister Melinda Nelson, her father-in-law Norris West and her sister-in-law Mary Alyce (Harold) Madden. Funeral service will be held at St. Matthews FUMC on Friday, February 7th, at 1:30 PM following visitation starting at 12 PM. Any donations in her name should be made towards the children’s programs of St. Matthews FUMC.
