Obituary of Sam Schisler
Please share a memory of Sam to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sam Schisler, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Canton, Mississippi, on February 28, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on October 13, 1932, in Austintown, Ohio, to Leroy and Marybelle Schisler, Sam lived a life rich with love, laughter, and remarkable experiences.
He graduated with his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Sam built an accomplished career, first as a partner in Klingler Electric, serving as the CEO of Choctaw Manufacturing Enterprises in Carthage, Mississippi, and playing a key role in the construction of Packard Electric in Clinton, Mississippi.
Beyond his career, Sam had an extraordinary zest for life. He danced with Chubby Checker, golfed with Arnold Palmer, and even sat at a piano with Jerry Lee Lewis. An avid and accomplished golfer, he found joy on the greens and in the camaraderie of the game. His love for the outdoors led him to his camper in the mountains of northeast Georgia, a cherished retreat where he created countless fond memories.
Sam was a humble, wise, and kind man who was easy to love. His neighbors valued his presence, his quick wit, and his ever-present good stories and jokes. But more than anything, Sam loved his family. His devotion to his wife, Pam, was the sweetest love you can find in this life. He was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, finding his greatest joy in the company of his loved ones.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents- Leroy and Marybelle Schisler; his sister, Shirley Morris; and his brothers- Frank Tomaino and George Roy (Evelyn) Tomaino.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Merchant Schisler; daughters- Lanet (David) Kubena, Nancy Schisler, and Michelle (Kenny) Adams; sons- Tom (Susie) Schisler, Sammy Joe Schisler, and Michael (Teresa) Harvey; sister, Mary Lee (Jerry) Herron; sister-in-law, Marge Tomaino; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Jojo.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Sam’s life will be held on Monday, March 3, at Natchez Trace Funeral Home, 759 Hwy 51, Madison, MS 39110. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
In the words of those who loved him, "God picked another angel to stand in His garden." Sam’s kindness, humor, and deep love for his family will be missed, but forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew him.
