Obituary of Dorothy "Granny Dot" Clements

Dorothy "Granny Dot" Clements, 84, died peacefully at home with her family by her side. Born November 27, 1940, she was the daughter of Eugene Hawthorne and Mary Elizabeth Hart Hawthorne. Granny Dot retired from Madison County School District and was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother. She lived for her family and the times had together. She is survived by a daughter; Valerie Clements Zimmerman and her husband Ricky of Madison; son, Edward Clements and his wife, June of Flora; grandchildren, Stephanie Zimmerman Burton of Madison; Justin Wadford of Hernando; Kyle Zimmerman of Madison; Tiffany Howell and her husband Ray of Bentonia; Jordan Zimmerman and wife Kayln of Madison; Eric Clements and his wife Madison of Madison; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Tom Hawthorne and his wife Rita, and sister, Mary Elise Pickens and husband Rick. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Clements, daughter, Gail Clements Wadford; grandson, Corey Wadford; parents, Eugene Hawthorne and Mary Elizabeth Hart Hawthorne Rowson, sister, Alice Seay; and brothers, Calvin, Ed, Ray, and Sid Hawthorne. Visitation will be Tuesday March 18, 2025, at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison from 12:00 noon until 2:00pm. The service will be Tuesday at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow in Jessamine Cemetery in Ridgeland.
