Louise Dickson Hemphill Brown, of Madison, MS and formerly of Jackson, MS and Booneville, MS passed away peacefully at St Dominic Hospital on April 27, 2025, at the age of 95. Louise was born in Tippo, MS March 31, 1930, to the late Jim Tom Dickson and Nellie McKay Dickson. She was a graduate of Delta State Teachers College and a retired educator that held many leadership roles in education, church and civic organizations both in Jackson and Booneville. She was an active member of Leavell Woods United Methodist Church, Jackson, MS for 34 years and an active member of First Baptist Church, Booneville, MS since 1990.
Natchez Trace Funeral Home is handling arrangements at 751 Hwy. 51, Madison MS with Rev. Steve Wilson officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 1:30 to 2:30, with service immediately following.
Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 28 years, Robert Daniels Hemphill, her second husband, Vance Brown, her siblings, Margaret Dickson Wulff, Alene Dickson Jetton, James Archie Dickson, Iris Dickson Mitchell, Jean Dickson Torbert, Elaine Dickson McCoy, Arlas Dickson Lamastus, and Kenneth Patton Dickson.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Laura Hemphill Taylor (John), her son, Robert (Bobby), D. Hemphill, Jr. (Judy), her step-daughters, Donna Brown McDonald (Jimmy) and Mary Brown Smith (Perry). Her grandchildren, Wendy Dunning, Jason Rovano (Rachel), Taylor Hemphill (Hannah), Chris Hemphill (Jorie), her step-grandchildren, Candace Sigler (Matt), Will Smith (Becka). Ashley Pigford (Josh), Evan McDonald (Lorna), Bradley McDonald (Allie). She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, her sister, Clovis Dickson Cole, and her brother, John Thomas Dickson (Peggy). Louise also enjoyed keeping in touch with her numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sunnybrook Estates, Covenant Caregivers, and St. Dominic Hospital for the loving care they provided.
