Please share a memory of Carl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carl Norman Hutto, known affectionately as Norm, born February 19, 1964, passed away at his home in Madison, Mississippi, on May 23, 2025, at the age of 61, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service.
Norm is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Connie Hutto; his son, Evan Hutto; and his cherished grandchildren, Ethan and Kinsley Hutto. The youngest of seven siblings, he is also survived by his brothers, Alfons Hutto and wife Inge, Gerald Hutto and wife Sue, John Hutto and wife Jan, Paul Hutto and wife Viola, and his sisters, Patricia Morgan and husband Mike and Gerlinda Birchmeier and husband John. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Apollonia Hutto.
For nearly 30 years, Norm dedicated himself to a successful career at Roses Department Stores. Beginning in 1984 as a part-time clerk, he entered the management program and advance through the ranks to become Regional Vice President. His unwavering dedication and work ethic inspired his family and colleagues alike.
Despite his demanding career, Norm remained a devoted Christian and an exemplary husband, father, and grandfather. His son, Evan, and grandchildren, Ethan and Kinsley, were among his greatest joys. The birth of his grandchildren, who called him Papa, were two of the happiest days of his life. He loved teaching them to fish, cook, and appreciate the outdoors, especially his passion for birds. Papa was famous for his holiday-themed pancakes, a cherished tradition during their visits.
As a leader in the Boy Scouts of America, Norm mentored his son, Evan, and four friends to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, a source of immense pride. He was thrilled when his grandson, Ethan, recently began his journey as a Cub Scout.
A passionate foodie, Norm loved cooking and exploring new cuisines. He founded the “Dinner Club” with friends, and while many have come and gone, the core group of Mike and Holly Fogel, Mike and Tiffany Marlow, and beloved Penny Servies became family with over 25+ years of shared meals and memories.
Norm’s quick wit, great sense of humor, and love for good times with family and friends left a footprint on everyone’s heart. He was the life of the party everywhere he went. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Livingston Fellowship in Flora, MS on Friday June 6th at 10:30AM (129 Mannsdale Rd., Madison, MS, Mississippi)
