In Loving Memory of Ronald Phillip Ricks (July 12, 1963 – August 4, 2024) & Pamela Wagner Ricks (October 20, 1958 – August 22, 2025) It is with both sorrow and gratitude that we announce the passing of Ronald Phillip Ricks and Pamela Wagner Ricks, devoted partners in marriage for 40 years. Though they left this world at different times, their enduring love carried them into eternity together, just as they wished. They will now be laid to rest together. Ron and Pam were married on May 12, 1984. When they first met at a mutual friend’s party, Ron went home, woke his mother, and said, “You have to get a sign language book for me when you go to the mall tomorrow. I met a girl who’s deaf, and I want to ask her out.” From that moment, they were inseparable. They had their ups and downs but always came through stronger on the other side. They did everything together, and Ron often smiled and said, “If Pam ever leaves me, I’m going with her.” After years of service with the U.S. Postal Service, Ron made the bold decision to take early retirement and pursue entrepreneurship. He founded Ricks Vending, which flourished thanks to his sharp business sense, practical problem-solving, and natural ability to connect with people. His business was successful, but even more meaningful were the lasting relationships he built. Pam was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and faithful friend. Her family will forever treasure her kindness, loyalty, and unwavering devotion. Pam lived with deep faith and a gentle spirit that touched everyone she met. Known for her generosity and steadfast love, she was cherished by all. She was an active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, especially in the deaf ministry, where she formed countless friendships and offered encouragement as freely as she received it. Brandi’s favorite memory of her parents is a Thanksgiving trip to Gulf Shores, AL, where Layne experienced the beach for the first time. She loved watching her parents walk hand-in-hand with her son along the shore as he discovered the sand and surf. From go-karts to bumper boats, that trip became the start of an annual Thanksgiving family tradition until health concerns prevented them from traveling last year. In 2022, Ron and Pam were each diagnosed with lung cancer, just three months apart. Together, they traveled often to MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX, and in between appointments, they explored the city with their daughter and sometimes their grandson. Those trips created cherished memories and reflected the deep love and dedication between two extraordinary people. They are survived by their daughter, Brandi Ricks Jefcoat, son-in-law, Tylor Jefcoat, grandson, Layne Parks, and step-grandson, Skylor Jefcoat. They also leave behind Ron’s sister, Paula Ricks Herbert (Mark); Pam’s sister, Elizabeth Wagner Barker (Tony); and Pam’s sister-in-law, Darla Wagner. They were preceded in death by Ron’s parents, Carl P. and Margaret Copeland Ricks; Pam’s parents, Joseph E. and Willoudean Dearing Wagner; and Pam’s brother, Steve Wagner. Since May 2024, Brandi lovingly cared for both of her parents in her home, supported by her husband, Tylor. Together they wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to daytime sitter Melanie Woodward, family friend Cyndi Myers, and hospice nurse Ariel White of Traditions Home Hospice for their compassionate care and support. Though their passing leaves a deep absence, Ron and Pam’s love story continues as they are laid to rest together—a reminder that true partnership endures beyond time.
