Mamie Dolores Sherrill, 85, of Brandon, Mississippi, passed away on September 15, 2025 in Jackson, Mississippi. She was born October 4, 1939, to Mattie Chloe McMahan and Boyce Lindsey.
Mamie lived a life marked by service, strength, and love. She proudly held a clerical position in the United States Air Force and later worked as a beautician, where her warmth, kindness, and gentle humor endeared her to many. She never spoke negatively of others, choosing instead to listen, offer wise advice, and uplift everyone around her.
Known for her humility and care, Mamie always put others before herself. She loved her family deeply, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her fried chicken, hand-crafted gifts, and phone calls filled with lighthearted gossip will be remembered with fond smiles. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, valued tradition, and carried herself with grace and class.
Mamie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Sam B. Sherrill Sr. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Leslie Jones and Amy Sherrill Moon; her sons, Sam B. Sherrill Jr. and Joel Lindsey Sherrill; grandchildren, William Moon, III, Bryce Moon, Riley Moon, Sam B. Sherrill III, Seth Sherrill, Christian Sherrill, Saige Sherrill, Jack Sherrill, Allyson Byrd, and Daniel Jones; and great-grandchildren, Miles Scott, Abby Byrd, Madison Jones, Daniel Jones, Rowan Moon, Florence Moon, Wilder Moon, and soon-to-arrive Baby Girl Sherrill.
A visitation will be held Friday, September 19, 2025, from 1:00–3:00 PM at Natchez Trace Funeral Home, 759 Highway 51, Madison, MS, with a service to follow at 3:00 PM.
Mamie’s legacy of kindness, wisdom, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
