Obituary of Jeffrey Brian Burns
Please share a memory of Jeffrey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jeffrey Brian Burns, 57, of Madison, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, at the University of
Mississippi Medical Center after a brave and hard-fought battle with lymphoma.
Brian lived a life full of love, laughter, and loyalty to his family, his friends, and his hometown. He was a devoted husband to Julia Furr, and a proud father to his two daughters, Avery Burns Nash (Derek) and Sarah Allen Burns, who were truly the light of his life. His greatest joy in recent years came from his grandson, Oliver Thomas “Ollie” Nash, who adored his “Pops.”
He is also survived by his parents, Ralph and Hilda Burns; his brother, Glenn Burns (DeEtte); nephew Nick Burns (Lindsey); niece Abbey Burns Simmons (Luke); great-nephews Lennon “Parks” Burns and Luke “Burns” Simmons; and great-niece Ella Nicholas Burns. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Ginger Lynn Burns, whose memory he always carried close to his heart.
A 1987 graduate of Madison-Ridgeland Academy, Brian went on to attend Holmes Community College before joining his father at A & B Equipment, where the two worked side by side for many years. In 2017, he began a new chapter at Puckett Machinery, where he was known for his strong work ethic and easy sense of humor.
Brian loved the outdoors whether it was golfing with friends, hunting, or casting a line on a quiet morning. He especially cherished the hours spent in the garage with his dad, working on their 1979 K5 Blazer, swapping stories, and sharing laughter. But more than anything, Brian loved being surrounded by the people he loved, his family and lifelong friends who knew him best.
His presence filled every room, his laugh was contagious, and his kindness touched everyone who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The American Cancer Society in Brian's memory.
