Please share a memory of Mike to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Cecil Roy "Mike" Yarbro, Jr., passed away on December 26, 2025, at home surrounded by his wife of 57 years, Sue Yarbro. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, on July 26, 1945, he lived a life defined by quiet strength, a strong work ethic, a wicked sense of humor, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved. Mike grew up the oldest of two children born to Cecil Roy Yarbro Sr. and Douglas Marie Rhinewalt Yarbro. He graduated from Murrah High School and continued his education at Mississippi State University where he majored in English, a major that served him well later in life as he authored multiple books and novels. When his boss at a national heavy equipment company refused to sell a piece of equipment to one of Mike's clients, Mike quit on the spot, bought the piece of machinery himself, and resold it to the client starting a 30-year-long successful career as an entrepreneur in the heavy equipment import and export industry. Mike was never one to be pushed around, and that was one of the many things we loved about him. In 1968 Mike married his best friend and beautiful wife, Sue Childs Yarbro; and together they built a home filled with love, hard work, and the smell of something good coming from his outdoor grill. His greatest joy was being a father to his two girls and a grandfather to his four grandchildren. Mike is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sue Yarbro; their two girls, Sharra Yarbro Reno (Bill Reno) and Kippy Yarbro Powell; his four grandchildren Addison Powell, Ashton Reno Lomax, Whit Powell, and Michael Reno; and his sister, Brenda Yarbro. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Madison in the small side chapel with visitation beginning at 10 AM and the service beginning at 11 AM. All who knew Mike are invited to attend and wear blue as a tribute to his favorite color and his sparkling blue eyes. Mike's family is grateful to all of the friends and neighbors that cared so deeply for him and surrounded him with love and prayers, especially the members of Arden Home Health Hospice, and Mr. Johnny. Mike will be deeply missed and forever loved. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made to the American Arthritis Foundation.
