Peter James Dubinski, age 80, passed away on January 7, 2026, in Jackson, Mississippi, with his wife and family at his side, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born on January 9, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York, Peter was the son of Peter Paul Dubinski and Marie Denicola. He later lived in New Jersey, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Mississippi. From an early age, he knew what he wanted out of life - and he pursued it with determination, creativity, and heart. For 58 years, Peter shared a devoted marriage with the love of his life, Linda Dubinski (nee Berish). Together, they built a life centered on family, laughter, and shared adventures. He was a proud and loving father to Margaret Dubinski; Peter Dubinski; Dolores Ann Gardner (Jim); Michael Dubinski (Jennifer); Lauren Dubinski (Robert); and Melissa Tillman (Kyle). His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren - Samantha Dubinski, Caitlin Vance (Dylan), Nikolas Caballero, Emma Gardner, Hayle Cleveland, and River Tillman - and his great-grandson, Bennett Vance. Peter is also survived by his brothers, Joseph Dubinski (Janet) and Robert Dubinski (Roseanna), along with many extended family members and friends who were touched by his warmth. A graduate of Lodi High School, Peter built a successful career in hospitality management, working in Las Vegas resorts and later serving as a banquet hospitality manager in Mississippi. Yet it was on the stage - and behind the scenes - where Peter truly came alive. A passionate advocate for community theater, Peter was a director, actor, accomplished singer, guitarist, band leader, and songwriter. He gave countless hours to the arts, shaping productions and mentoring performers through organizations such as The Rainbow Company and Brick Street Players. His impact extended far beyond the curtain call, as he made a difference in the lives of many through encouragement, kindness, and an unwavering belief in the power of the arts. A lifelong Christian, Peter served in the Knights of Columbus in Las Vegas and sang in the church choir. He found joy in music as a form of worship and connection. Outside the theater, he loved attending minor league baseball games, collecting baseball memorabilia, tackling puzzles, reading voraciously, playing trivia, and sharing stories. He never met a stranger - he talked to everyone, genuinely cared about people, and was known for his playful declaration, “I’m the boss.” Some of the family’s most cherished memories from the early years include trips to Disneyland, Wet and Wild Water Park, Circus Circus, and Christmas gatherings in New Jersey - crowded into Peter’s mother’s small trailer, celebrating together with traditional Italian meals, laughter, and love – and then later in his own home with his family. Those moments reflected what mattered most to Peter: being surrounded by family. Peter was happiest when he was on stage, at the ballpark, or gathered with the people he loved. He will be remembered as a kind, caring man who mattered deeply to many - and who made others feel seen, welcomed, and valued.
