Lisa and I were just devastated to hear this so very sad news. Dave was always intense in whatever he was doing. Certainly one of my favorite memories was in Scouts where he was reviewing the constellations with the young men. He later got them all up at 2AM to see a satellite cross the sky as Dave had a printed schedule of all satellite positions and paths. Robin we will be praying for you at this time. May the Lord's grace be ever so sufficient. Jeff and Lisa Lamb

From Ed Bee and family,
Dear Robin, David and Layton,
I am so sorry for your sudden loss. Those of us outside the family are also going to miss our tender and dear brother and friend. We share in your grief. Dave was such an advocate and encourager to me and many others during the difficult journey of producing and defending our dissertations. How could one not be touched by a guy who would come from Jackson to Hattiesburg just to share in my graduation? His friendship was so deep and genuine.
Dave was always a bright light and passionate apologist among the PhD students at USM. He not only believed, but he daily lived the gospel. He embodied better than anyone I know the love that Paul describes in 1 Corinthians. One of Dave’s favorite expressions from the scriptures was “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another (Provebrs 27:16).” I can personally testify that he always sharpened me in every project or collaboration that we ever pursued together.
Dave’s unique talents and energy will be sorely missed by all his colleagues, students, friends, and fellow believers. We in the PhD program at USM loved him dearly and will miss his laughter and excitement during our gatherings. We all were blessed to have crossed paths with Dave during our life journeys.

I got to know Dave at a very crucial time in my life. Dave was instrumental in my hiring with Deposit Guaranty Investments. I will be forever grateful for his kindness and influence during those years. As stated, Dave never compromised his faith in Christ in the work place. I had lost contact with Dave over the years, but i will never forget him and what he did for me. God used him to keep me near the cross.

Dave and Robin have been such precious friends to us, Cliff & Judy Fenlason. Dave came with us to Vladivostok in the Russian Far East several times in the years following the fall of the iron curtain. Dave would teach business, finance and market economy principles to Russians fresh out of 70 years of communism. It was a ministry trip too, as we built relationships and sowed seeds wherever we could. What great memories with Dave & Robin! Dave was an inspiring guy! Very sharp but also very kind, considerate and encouraging to everyone. What an example! We're going to miss him! The photo is of Dave teaching business through an interpreter to a class in Vladivostok in 1993. When we visited Dave & Robin in Jackson he proudly showed us the work of Gateway Rescue Mission. He was such a caring and compassionate man with a heart to help the less-fortunate and to serve his community!

We love Dave and Robin. I just hate we haven't seen you lately. I always enjoyed my time with Dave, he was never boring and would give U the shirt off his back if U needed it. A wonderful Christian Couple, whom we admired. He lived his life to the fullest
and never met a stranger. It is comforting to know where Dave is right now.
Love you,

Dave's William Carey University family will miss him for his spirit, intellect, and engagement with students, faculty, and staff. In particular, he distinguished himself in involving students in significant research projects. Numerous students--at the bachelor's level and in the MBA program--were able to present papers and publish research done under his guidance. While we are sad to have lost him so soon, we are thankful for the years of service he gave us. May God give peace and comfort to his family during this difficult time.
