Mildred Jones Brown, age 88, went to her heavenly home on November 22, 2020 in Jackson, Mississippi. She was born on December 26, 1931 to Willie H. Jones and Maggie Forbes Jones in Pasquotank County, North Carolina. She moved to Norfolk, Virginia at the age of ten. There, she later met the love of her life James “Garland” Brown. They resided in Virginia Beach, Virginia with their three girls until 1967 when they moved to Jackson, Mississippi. Mildred was a stay at home mom until her girls were all school age then she became a Real Estate Agent for C. Buck Bush Realty. For a short while she worked as a bookkeeper for Sunflower Food Stores. She found her dream job doing the payroll and some bookkeeping for Amerigo Restaurant. Mildred retired from Amerigo in her early 70’s to care for Garland who was requiring dialysis. All through her life, Mildred worshipped our Lord, Jesus Christ. She taught Sunday school for many years. She instilled in her children a love for God and the need for a close relationship with Him. She truly lived a life trying to exemplify the love of Christ. She spent many hours on her knees praying for friends, family and most certainly her girls and their families. Mildred is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Brown Stoltzfus (Bill) of Madison, MS, Debra Francine Brown Viverette (Kent) of Ridgeland, MS., Julene Brown Sullivan (Randy) of Victoria, MN.; three grandchildren, Brandi Renee Ackermann of Madison, MS, James Garland Brown Stoltzfus (Catie) of Madison, MS, Hailey Morgan Sullivan of Auckland, Australia; four great grandchildren, Danny Ackermann, Lindsey Ackermann, Cate Stoltzfus, and Millie Stoltzfus all of Madison, MS. She was preceded in death by her Husband, James Garland Brown; parents, Willie H. Jones and Maggie Forbes Jones; three brothers, Willie Archibald Jones, Bailey F. Jones, Robert Jones; and sister, Millicent Jones Matheny. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison, Mississippi at 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm. A funeral service celebrating her life will be at 1:30 pm at Natchez Trace Funeral Home Chapel and followed by graveside services at Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery.
