Obituary of Eloise Russell McEwen

Please share a memory of Eloise to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eloise Russell McEwen, age 90, went to heaven on November 24, 2021 after a life well lived. Eloise was born on May 6, 1931 to Ethan A. Russell and Lessie Mae Catt Russell near Monticello, MS where she lived until she graduated from Monticello High School in 1949. That summer she moved to Jackson, MS and attended Draughon's Business College. After graduation she worked for Commercial Credit in Jackson until an office was opened in Brookhaven, MS. Eloise worked there a little over two years when she transferred back to the Jackson office. She met Fred McEwen, Jr at a Christmas party and they were married two months later. They enjoyed fifty-eight years together until his death in 2011. Fred and Eloise were blessed with three sons and were happiest when they were traveling, camping, fishing, with them or extended family. Eloise loved her family and was a great encourager to her husband and sons. She will be remembered as loving the Lord, her family and friends; she was a great "go to" person. She enjoyed reading, learning new things, studying her Bible, playing the piano, cooking and camping. Her church was always important to her, and in her spiritual walk. She and Fred were members of several Jackson churches: Broadmeadow Methodist, First Baptist, Broadmoor Baptist, Faith Baptist, Christ Methodist, and most recently they enjoyed the fellowship and wonderful teaching of Bro. John Ward at Grace Bible Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred; wonderful sons, David and Donnie; her parents, and in-laws, Fred and Eva McEwen. Eloise is survived by her multi-talented and much loved son, Fred W. McEwen, III of Jackson, MS; nephew, Howard Chadwick, many Catt, Russell, Carruth and McEwen cousins, who have all been such wonderful support for her and Fred, III. Visitation will be Monday November 29, 2021 at Grace Bible Church in Ridgeland, MS, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. A funeral service celebrating her life will be at 3:00 pm followed by the interment at 4:00 pm in Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery in Madison, MS.
