James W. Rogers, 94, departed this life on February 18, 2024. He was born on June 27, 1930, to James and Ruby Rogers in Jackson, MS James W. Rogers attended Catholic school and graduated from Tugaloo College in 1951 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on June 6, 1951, in Jackson MS. On August 8, 1952, he married Rosebud Townsend in Cheyenne WY, while attending service school training at F. E. Warren Air Force Base (AFB). He served at various duty stations in the United States and abroad. He was released from active-duty June 30, 1977, at Lowry AFB in Denver, CO. and continued his public service working for the City of Denver as a job employment specialist. After retiring from the City of Denver, James and Rosebud moved to Ridgeland, MS where they built a home. James W. Rogers is survived by his children Sylvia L. Rogers, Marvin L. Rogers (Cassandra), Gerald M. Rogers (Sheila) and granddaughter Kiah S. Rogers He is preceded in passing by his wife of 71 years, Rosebud Rogers and his parents, James and Ruby Rogers. Visitation will be at Natchez Trace Funeral Home from 10:00am – 11:00am on March 9, 2024. Funeral service celebrating his life will follow. Interment will begin at 12:30pm on Monday, March 11, 2024 at the VA Memorial Cemetery in Kilmichael, MS.
