Obituary of Suellen McPhail

Please share a memory of Suellen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Today, the world lost an Angel, and Heaven gained one. Suellen McPhail passed away on March 3, 2024 at 67 years young. Suellen was different things to different people in her lifetime... wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, friend, teacher, counselor, encourager... but to all she was a dose of laughter, a touch of kindness and a lesson in love, compassion, and selflessness. Suellen was born on January 30, 1957, to Joyce and Troy McPhail in Ridgeland, Mississippi. As the oldest of four children, Suellen assumed her lifelong position as role model early. Her love for family, community, and church was formed in that home and continued to guide her through life as she became the person that we all loved, admired, and respected. Suellen brought joy to, and extracted joy from, everything she did. Whether gathering with her family, Creating ceramic art and mosaics, preparing delicious meals, beach tripping with her friends or vacationing in her beloved Smokey Mountains, she did it all with an abundance of joy. To her, life was a gift she had received, and her time was a gift she gave to others. With her ever present McAllister's tea in hand and benevolence in her heart, she lovingly exercised her talents of supporting, celebrating, and investing in others. Suellen graduated from Madison Ridgeland Academy in 1975 and from Mississippi Community College in 1979. During her time at Mississippi College, she represented the university in the Miss Mississippi Pageant. After School, she began a 30-year career with Periodontal Associates of Jackson. First Baptist Church of Madison was Suellen's church home. As a faithful, long-time member, Suellen served her church and her God as a teacher and a choir member. Suellen leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Dale. What began as an amusing joke - the two people with the same last name going on a date - became a lifelong partnership. Together they raised a family, enjoyed friendships, worshipped, traveled, and spent time at their weekend cabin. It was Dale's burden, and joy, to try to keep up with Suellen's energy, passion, and constant need to rearrange everything. Suellen is survived by her children, Stephen (Carie) McPhail, Andrew (Megan) McPhail; grandchildren, Taylor and Charlotte, and an extended family that will always regard her as its leader and will forever be grateful for her love, support, and example: siblings Don McPhail, Paul (Angela) McPhail, Angela (Tony) Curtis along with their many children and grandchildren, all of whom will forever fondly remember their beloved Aunt Suellen. Suellen will also be missed by her special friends Punam, Shabnam, Bibhusha, Jelina, Illina, Michelle and Parsons. In Lieu of Flowers, Suellen requests that donations be made to Sonrise Ministries, Inc., P.O. Box 583, Middleburg, FL 32050-0583. Website - SonriseMinistriesInc.org Pallbearers will be Troy McPhail, Ben Dockery, Will Dockery, Michael McPhail, Zack Keup, Trey Brunson, Tanner Malone and Jack Garrard.
