Shirley P. Byrd Ridgeland, MS 04/30/37-7/31/23 Born to John Welk Jones and Mae Dickerson Jones Born in McAdams, MS. Attended McAdams High School where she played basketball and was a cheerleader. She graduated in 1955 and then attended Business School. She began her career at Mississippi Valley Gas. Later she was employed at Joseph Properties where she was a Property Manager for the remainder of her career. She was very involved at First Baptist Church of Ridgeland where she served as Childrens Coordinator for many years. Her faith was very important to her as was her family. She was a Wedding/Reception Coordinator for numerous friends and family weddings. She was very active in the lives of her children/grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to cook and created a family cookbook with all her favorite recipes. She knew no difference between her immediate family and extended family and had a wonderful sense of adventure. She was very compassionate and would help anybody with any problem. She was a true angel with a servant’s heart. Survived by her husband Jerry W. Byrd of 48 years, son Charles (Linda) Pittman, daughter Alicia (Wesley) Perry, daughter Teresa Richardson, son Michael Pittman, daughter Cathy Ford, sister Sandra Jones Schuler, sister-in-law Lily Jones, grandchildren David Pittman, Chase Gilmer, Jeff Perry, Katie Perry, Matt Pittman, Hannah Hogg, Rebecca Kreutziger, Cameron Ford, Olivia Archie, McKenna Cobb, Madden May, Anarose Ford, Joseph Byrd, Lindsey Byrd and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by first husband Charles G. Pittman, Sr., son Joey Byrd, son-in-law Danny Richardson, parents John Welk and Mae Dickerson Jones, sisters Juanita Jones Mitchell (George Isaac Mitchell Sr.) and Dorothy Mae Jones Ray (James Lee Ray), brothers James Franklin Jones (Bobbye Coats Jones) and Charles Garvis Jones and numerous Pittman and Byrd extended family members. Visitation will be at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison, MS from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, August 3, 2023 and Friday August 4, 2023 10:00 to 11:00 am . Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on August 4, 2023, at the Natchez Trace Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Coleman Cemetery in McAdams, MS at 2:00 pm.
