Andrew Robert Woidtke 78, of Madison, MS, passed away on January 18, 2024, with Joyce, his wife of 55 years by his side. Andy was born in Painesville, Ohio to Bertha and John Woidtke on March 1, 1945. He graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School and enlisted directly into the United States Marine Corp and became a Marine Corp Drill Instructor. He served his country, his family, and his community with honor, commitment and integrity. While in the military he married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Ann Laycock of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. After the military, they moved back to Florida where he played basketball for Bethune Cookman College. From there they moved to Harrisburg, VA where Andy attended James Madison University and received a degree in Athletic Training. He worked as an Athletic Trainer for the Miami Dolphins during the 1971-72 perfect season (17-0). He transferred into medical sales after working as a cameraman on The Gong Show. After moving to Jackson, MS Andy began his lifelong sales career with Easton Sporting Goods. He was one of the most successful sales representatives in the sporting goods industry. His dedication and commitment to excellence were not only highly revered in the sporting goods industry but within his personal life as well. He served on security teams and other advisory boards at First Baptist Church Madison, and supported overseas mission trips to spread the Gospel of Christ. He loved his boys and his family fiercely. He will be missed dearly by those that were lucky enough to call him friend. Semper Fi. Andy is survived by Joyce Ann Woidtke, James Shane Woidtke (Tracie), Matthew Trent Woidtke (Lou Ann), and five grandchildren, Skyler, Knox, Parker, Gage and Reece and a great granddaughter, Layla. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship for young Christian athletes will be established at a future date. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM on January 22, 2024, at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS. Celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on January 22, 2024, at Natchez Trace Funeral Home. Burial to immediately follow.
