Walton Russum Taylor, Sr, 72, of Madison, Mississippi, went home to Jesus on January 18, 2024. Walt was born in Greenville, Mississippi on July 26, 1951 to parents William Johnson Taylor and Margaret Ann Taylor. Greenville, Mississippi is where Walt spent most of his childhood. He then moved to Scottsdale, Arizona where he graduated from Judson Preparatory School. After Preparatory School, Walt attended Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi. He married his devoted wife, Susan Steinriede Taylor, on June 27, 1972. Also in 1972, Walt started his own business, W.R. Taylor Company, and continued to operate it until his death. Walt is survived by his wife of 51 years Susan Steinriede Taylor; three children, Emily Joyce Taylor, Walton Russum Taylor II (Rhonda), and William Bradley Taylor; grandchildren Abigail Morgan Taylor, Lillian Kathleen Taylor, Landon Russum Taylor, Brayden Joseph Taylor, Braxton Connor Taylor, Brantley Michael Taylor; one sister, Peggy Allen (Mark); step mother, Peggy Cousins Taylor, and many nieces and nephews; Walt is preceded in death by his father, William Johnson Taylor, and mother, Margaret Ann Taylor. Walt was known by everyone for being effortlessly funny, stubborn, and devoted to his family. His grandchildren were the highlight of his life. He had the ability to befriend anyone everywhere he went, often telling extravagant stories about his life, whether they were true or not. From his close friends and family to strangers in the paint store, he left a lasting impression on everyone. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Pall Bearers for the service will be Walton Russum Taylor II, William Bradley Taylor, Landon Taylor, Bob Steinriede, Billy Steinriede, Brian Steinriede, Chad Sonnek Sr., Chad Sonnek Jr., Kevin Rust, and Jayson Barlow. Visitation and Service will be held at Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery on January 22, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a service held at 10:00 AM with Pastor Francis Vlok officiating.
