JEREMY JAMES FORSYTHE MITCHELL
COLLINS, MISSISSIPPI
Jeremy James Forsythe Mitchell, 52, went to be with his Lord on January 20, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on October 25, 1971.
Jeremy spent most of his younger years in Cleveland, Mississippi where he attended Providence Baptist Church and was a 1989 graduate of Cleveland High School. He attended Hinds Community College and later served in the United States Army. On March 26, 1999, he married the love of his life, JoAnna Sanders, and they shared 24 years together. April 1, 2003 was one of the best days of their lives when their beautiful baby girl, Jordyn Marie, was born. She had Jeremy wrapped around her finger from the minute he saw her.
There wasn’t much Jeremy could not do with his hands. He had several successful careers before joining Danos of Louisiana as a skilled offshore electrician. Jeremy loved the outdoors and was always searching for the next good fishing or hunting spot. He enjoyed camping with his family where they were often found scouring for antique Coleman lanterns, amongst many other brands. He would take them home and restore them to their original beauty. He traded with other lantern enthusiasts across the United States.
Jeremy is survived by his wife JoAnna and his daughter Jordyn of Collins; His brother Cliff Mitchell (Fran) of Ridgeland; his sisters Cindy Mitchell Davis (Mike) of Hazlehurst and Jackie Mitchell Loup (Kenny) of Denham Springs, Louisiana; his mother-in-law Betty Sanders of Collins; a sister-in-law Stephaniee Briggs (Lawrence) of Clinton and brother-in-law Jamie Sanders (T.J.) of Star. His is also survived by his aunts Faye B. Cowart of Vicksburg; Lisa E. Peacock and Mary Jane Entrikin of Hernando, Mississippi. Jeremy is also survived by many nephews, nieces, great nieces and great nephews and extended family. Jeremy also leaves behind a host of friends who loved him like a brother.
Jeremy is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford M. (Buddy) Mitchell, Sr. and Toby B. Mitchell of Cleveland as well as his father-in-law Don Sanders of Collins.
The visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Broadmoor Baptist Church Chapel, 1531 Highland Colony Parkway, Madison, Mississippi from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a Memorial Service immediately following visitation in the Chapel.
