In loving memory of Emma Hodges Miller, born on March 26, 1932, in Magnolia, Mississippi, and peacefully passed away on January 8, 2024, in Huntsville, Alabama. Emma, the cherished daughter of the late Julius and Sarah Hodges was one of their seventeen children. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Miller. Mrs. Miller leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by her two sons, Carl Miller and Robert Burse, and daughter, Dr. Sylvia Martin. She will be remembered by her adoring grandchildren: Carl Leonidas Miller, Jordan Martin, D'Markus Jones, Michael Martin, Diamon Jones, Nicholas Martin, and Patrick Martin. A proud alumna of HBCU, Jackson State University, Emma was a member of the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. Her academic pursuits led her to later attain master's degrees in History, Education, and Library Science, along with certification as an accountant. Devoted to her faith, Sister Miller served as a Deaconess at Mt. Calvary Seventh-day Adventist Church in Huntsville, Alabama, where her commitment to the church, God, and her community left an enduring impact and a legacy of love, selflessness, and dedication. May she rest in peace, her legacy lives on through her family, the countless lives she touched and the memories she created. The graveside service will be Saturday February 10, 2024, at Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery.
