Michael was a long time friend of mine, his wife Naomi is one of my best friends. We met at Spirit Church in Ridgeland many, many years ago. Michael would call me his sister often. I can remember visiting him in the hospital a couple of years ago and what was supposed to be a thirty minute visit for me turned into three hours. He didn’t want me to leave, he even kept trying to talk to me while he was sleeping and not feeling well, that was Michael. He asked me not to leave until he got his medicine because he wanted to be sure that they weren’t giving him something with poison in it, I said I don’t think they’re trying to harm you, they know what they’re doing. He told the nurse that I was his sister, she looked and said right. I told her that I was his sister in Christ and his friend. We shared the same birthday month, they were six days apart, so to him, I was his sister. May his soul rest in peace. I’ll see you again one day, my brother. Prayers for my sister Naomi and their family.

There has been a many talks we shared on the phone, about God, our family and our home and it shocked me to have learned that you were gone. We shared so many memories from Coleman Junior High to walking the halls and graduating from Greenville High. I even remember those thriller jackets that you and Milton wore and throughout those years we formed a bond that couldn't be broken even if you tried. I was one of the few that you confided in back in the day. I guess you were shy and nobody understood your ways. You called me your bodyguard because you were little and people tried to pick on you, but you knew that as long as you were around me, you felt safe and everything would be ok. Our last memory together was a moment that I'll never forget. I had finally convinced you to come home and partake in a venue that had become a huge success in the city of Greenville. It was there that you had a chance to see your fellow classmates that you haven't seen since graduation and meet many friends from high school. You laughed and giggled and ate good too. Lol. A little too much I admit. Man you fixed so many plates and I said to myself, man where is he going to put it. Little did I know that it would be the last time I'd see that smile and embrace in that brotherly love. God knew all the time and I am forever grateful to have been there with you and was one of the ONLY reasons why you attended because you have never been back to Greenville High since we graduated in 89. I thank God for instilling within my heart to have asked you to come. It was God's plan all along. Wow! My little buddy is gone to a better place. Love you always man.

I have wonderful memories of Michael mentoring with our I!CAN WE!CAN Mentoring program at the 9th Grade Academy at Canton High School during 2017 and 2018. Michael was so interested in the students knowing more about Engineering and becoming the Best they could be. The students loved it when he came to see them. They knew he cared about them. Thank you, Michael for being a wonderful role model for our youth. Blessings …
