James Thomas Vickers August 12, 1951 – April 25, 2024 James Thomas “Tommy” Vickers went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 25, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born and grew up in the small town of West Point, Mississippi, where he met his loving wife of fifty years, Jeannie Davis. After graduating from Mississippi State University in 1973, he married Jeannie, moved to Jackson and embarked upon a 40-plus-year career in accounting as a CPA. He was a faithful member for 34 years at First Baptist Church, Jackson, and most recently at Grace Bible Church on the Parkway in Ridgeland, where he served as a Deacon, Business Administrator and Chairman of the Elders. Outside of his family, it was in these roles at Grace Bible Church where he found the most joy and satisfaction as he employed his prodigious skills and talents in service to the Lord and His church. Tommy was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, diligent worker and, above all else, a true believer and disciple of Jesus Christ. In all phases and walks of life he was a shining example of godly character and integrity, never compromising what he knew to be right, always living as a quiet but powerful reflection of his Lord and Savior. Ever a quiet man, his faith was borne out more with actions than with mere words. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Verna Lou Vickers of West Point. He is survived by his wife, Jeannie; two sons – Drew (Beth) of Bartlett, Tennessee, and Scott (Joy) of Brandon, Mississippi; three grandchildren – Hannah, Davis and Lizzy; and brother-in-law Andy Davis (Gay) of West Point. Following a private burial ceremony with the family, a visitation at 1:00 PM will be followed by a memorial service at 2:00, both at Grace Bible Church on the Parkway on Monday, April 29, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Grace Bible Church on the Parkway at 380 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
