Obituary of Jan Laster Bridewell

Please share a memory of Jan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jan Laster Bridewell, went to her heavenly home, on May 17, 2024. She was the daughter of John Arch Laster and Bette Spraggins Laster. She was born on March 13, 1956, in Millington, TN. Her parents, her sister Lane and her brother, Drew, eventually moved to Jackson, MS and considered that home. They were active members of Meadowbrook Church of Christ. Her family also were long time members of Colonial Country Club, where she played golf and enjoyed time with her family and friends. Jan graduated from Callaway High School in 1974, after high school she attended Mississippi State University. Her Freshman year at State, she enjoyed ALL aspects of what the school had to offer, but realized, with some words from her Daddy, that she was getting the 4 year plan. She decided to buckle down her sophomore year and graduated with honors in Accounting on May 12, 1978. Go Dawgs! Jan returned to her hometown in Jackson, MS, excelling in real estate, banking and then landed her dream job at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center as their Staff accountant for 25 years. She went that extra mile in her job roles, welcoming the new employees, training and assisting in any way. She never met a stranger, loved getting to know all employees whether they were in her department or not and with her beautiful smile and infectious laugh, she was loved by so many. She loved her Baptist work family. She loved her husband, Joe Bridewell and her entire family. She was a loyal leader, a caring daughter, a supportive wife, a loving mother, a true big sister, a fun and giving aunt, and a special friend to so many. She was our planner, our encourager and biggest cheerleader. We loved her stories, her laughter, and her devotion. Jan is survived by her husband, Joe Bridewell; daughters, Helene and Olivia; sister, Lane Laster Ergun; brother, Drew Laster; sister-in-law, Lydia Laster; Nephew, Garrison Laster and wife, Anna; McClain Laster, and wife, Madelynn; Niece, Mekkiye Ergun; and Nephew, Joseph Ergun.
