Robert Lewis Rhett, 69, of Madison, MS, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, in St. Dominic Hospital after a major stroke the prior Sunday. Bob was born July 28, 1954, to Clarence Rowe Rhett, Sr. and Betty Lewis Rhett. He was raised in Cleveland, MS, graduated from Bayou Academy there, and attended Delta State University. He was a salesman for Wade Implement Company in Indianola, MS, and a salesman and national sales manager for Quality Steel Corporation in Cleveland. On January 11, 1992, he married Kay Sartain Rhett. In 2006 Kay and Bob moved from Cleveland to the Madison County area where he was a salesman for Campania International. In September 2013 Bob suffered a brain bleed that left him with neuropathy on his right side. With great determination and disciplined work-outs at the gym and at home, he regained use of his right side and overcame many effects of the stroke. His testimony about the experience was, “When riding to the hospital in the ambulance, I had a peace that no matter the outcome I would be okay. I knew I was saved and I was going to heaven.” Bob was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, served as a deacon in Highland Colony Baptist Church, and loved sharing his testimony and encouraging others in their faith. Friends and family were very important to him, and he was the chief organizer for family reunions. He loved reading, grilling, gardening, and working out regularly at the gym. He is survived by his wife, Kay, and two stepchildren, Claire Rogers (Brent) and Todd Hart. He leaves behind six grandchildren, Mary Jayson Rogers, Hart Rogers, Carlie Rogers, Landon Russell, Mary Karson Hart, and Levi Hart. He is survived by his twin brother Glenn Rhett (Gail) of Vicksburg, MS, and brother Rowe Rhett Jr. (Melinda) of Cordova, TN, and eight nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, June 7, 2024, at Highland Colony Baptist Church, 1200 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. with the service immediately following in the church sanctuary. Interment will be at the Natchez Trace Funeral Home Cemetery, 759 Highway 51, Madison, MS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Highland Colony Baptist Building Fund or the charity of your choice. Bob loved flowers and his yard. In honor of him, the family asks that you wear something bright and cheerful to his Celebration of Life.
