John Kenneth Rankin, Jr. was born on July 18, 1944 in Brockport, New York and died on August 14, 2024. He grew up in Rochester, New York with his family and entered the U.S. Air Force in 1964 serving four years in the military. He moved to Mississippi in 1968 where he lived until his death. He worked for South Central Bell/AT&T his entire career and retired in 1999. He is survived by his wife, Sue Rankin; son, Blair (Robin) Rankin; daughter, Casey Rankin; stepson, Darrell Price; sister, Joy Liese, and brother Jimmy (Donna) Rankin. He also has two grandchildren, Makenzie and Christopher Rankin of Benton, Mississippi. He was predeceased by his parents, John Kenneth Rankin, Sr. and Groviene Carter Rankin; first born son, John Kenneth Rankin ”Zane”; sister, Dorothy Rankin Leo; brother, Bruce Rankin; and his stepdaughter, Michelle Price. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 10-11am at Natchez Trace Funeral Home (759 Hwy 51, Madison, MS 39110) with a graveside service to follow in the cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Samaritans Purse.
