Obituary of Jeanelle Viaje Fredericks

Please share a memory of Jeanelle to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jeanelle was her parent’s pride and joy. She brought so much love, light, and happiness. She will be forever remembered for her kindness, intelligence, and boundless talent. Though her time here was far too short, her impact on our lives will last forever. Even though she was only eight years old, she made a huge impression with her intelligence, talents, and big heart. She was a little genius from the start. By the time she was three, she was already reading kids’ chapter books and her kids’ Bible. She loved stories about Jesus and believed deeply in His love for us. When she was four, her preschool teacher noticed how smart she was and suggested testing her IQ. When her family returned to Mississippi, they moved specifically to Madison, so she could go to the best schools. She aced her exams, scoring in the 97th percentile, and got into the Pathways program without a hitch. She loved her classes and always gave it her all. Raising Jeanelle was a joy because she was so mature and responsible for her age. She always made sure to show her love, especially to her mommy and daddy. When she was just two or three, she told her mom she wanted to be a mom like her. When asked why, she said it was because she loved her, cared for her, cooked for her, and folded her clothes. Even at such a young age, she understood and appreciated everything her mom did for her. Jeanelle was her mom and dad’s best friend and buddy. She adored her little sister and acted like a second mom, always watching over and protecting her. She also got up early every morning to snuggle with her beloved dog, Puddles. Jeanelle was a fountain of information on animals with a special love for God’s creatures and she had aquariums for her frogs, toads, turtles, small snakes, hermit crabs, and fish. She loved to collect rocks wherever she went, seeing something special in each one. Summers at the lake in Minnesota gave ample opportunity to expand her collection! Swimming, waterskiing, horseback riding, fishing and playing with her cousin were summer highlights. Jeanelle’s love for reading extended beyond her kids’ Bible. She read the adult Bible her grandparents gave her and cherished it deeply. Every night, her dad would sneak a peek into her room and see her reading the Bible on her own. Her Sunday school teacher was amazed by her participation and knowledge, as if she had been part of the group for a long time. Jeanelle was incredibly talented in many areas. She played the piano and flute, swam like a fish, and even earned her Level 2 swimming certificate last summer. She loved playing chess and won a 2nd runner-up trophy in a school tournament. Her artistic skills were exceptional, and she could draw anything without a guide. Her tiny hands created beautiful art that always surprised us. She was developing a talent for sculpting and made numerous miniature figures of clay which she gave freely to friends and family. She had a heart of love and generosity! Most of all Jeanelle loved God. She read her Bible every night and prayed the sweetest prayers, thanking God for His creation and family, and thanking Jesus for dying on the cross and forgiving her sins, frequently saying, “I love you, Jesus.” Jeanelle was in third grade at Madison Avenue Upper Elementary School and attended Madison Avenue Elementary for first and second grade. She went to Oak Street Christian School in Brainerd, MN for Kindergarten. Jeanelle is survived by her parents Ryan and Diane; sister Celisse; grandparents Daniel and Maribeth Fredericks, and Louie and Grace Viaje; Uncles Justin Fredericks (Carolyn), Sean Fredericks; Aunts Autumn Fredericks Christensen (David), and Dañalie Viaje; cousins David (Davey) Christensen, Isla Fredericks and Olive Fredericks.
