Obituary of Barbara Sue Winstead Spell

Barbara Sue Winstead Spell, a beloved figure in the Lexington, Jackson and Madison communities, passed away peacefully at her home while surrounded by family in Madison, MS on Monday, November 4th, 2024. She was 81 years old. Born on February 12, 1943, in Lexington, MS, Barbara was the daughter of the late Willie Warren Winstead and Mildred Christine Chisolm Winstead. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Aaron Spell, and her sister, Brenda Hathcock. Barbara was a talented beautician who owned and operated the Magic Mirror Beauty Salon, where pleasing people pleased her. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and Country Woods Baptist church.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Pamela Spell Draughn; sister- Peggy Wiggly and Janet Hynum (Gage) ; brothers- Paul Howard Winstead (Gwen) and Allen Winstead (Cindy) ; grandchildren- Kelly Draughn, Justin LaPlant, Carly Draughn, and Hunter Draughn; great-grandchildren- Jacob Metten, Tavie Metten, Brantley Draughn, Harper Draughn, Rylee LaPlant, and Carson Draughn, who is still being knit together in her mother’s womb.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Natchez Trace Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Natchez Trace Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Coxburg Cemetery at 11965 Thornton Tolarsville Road, Lexington, MS 39095.
