David Lewis Hart, age 78, of Ridgeland, passed away on November 12, 2024. David was born on July 8, 1946, to Ora Elmer and Esther Mae Hawthorne Hart and was a native of Ridgeland, MS. David married Billie Jo Patrick in 1964 and enlisted in the US Air Force in 1966, during the Vietnam era. He joined Vickers upon returning home from the service and worked there until his retirement. He then worked for the Ridgeland Fire Department as a dispatcher until he decided to retire for good. He loved woodworking, a craft that took up much of his time creating pieces that he donated and gave away. Members of Old Town Wesley Church will remember David as the "Official Welcomer" where he greeted everybody with a hug each Sunday. David is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Hart; son, Chris Hart (Cindy); sister, Teresa Lewis; brothers, Michael Wayne (Jane) and Steven Hart; grandchildren, Brenna Hart-Farrar (Bryan), Kyle Hart, and Kaitlin Hart. He is preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jo Patrick Hart, sister, Jeanette Hart Bearse, and parents. Visitation will be held at Natchez Trace Funeral Home on Thursday November 14, 2024, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm and again one hour before the 11:00am chapel service on Friday November 15, 2024. Interment will be in Jessamine Cemetery in Ridgeland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Old Town Wesley Church 234 W Jackson St, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
