Obituary of Annie Laura DeMoney Hughes

Please share a memory of Annie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Annie Laura DeMoney Hughes, affectionately known as "Amp," was called home to Heaven on November 16, 2024, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, and devotion. Born on June 19, 1937, to Claude and Etta DeMoney, Annie's life was marked by kindness, selflessness, and a heart dedicated to serving others. Annie worked for 23 years at Ludlow in Indianola, MS, and later retired from Duo Fast in Cleveland, MS. She may not have had titles like business owner, minister, lawyer, doctor, or teacher, but her brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews, who achieved those very things, did so because of her steady love, wise guidance, and constant encouragement. Though she had no biological children, Annie lovingly raised her nieces and nephews as her own. Annie shared her faith through her beautiful alto voice, which graced the church choir for many years. Her singing reflected her deep love for her Savior, and her favorite hymn, Holy Ground, now serves as a reminder that she is standing in His presence. At the age of 54, Annie married the love of her life, Thomas E. Hughes of Cleveland, MS. Their time together was a beautiful testament to love and companionship. Now, reunited in Heaven, their love story continues eternally. Annie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas E. Hughes; her parents, Claude and Etta DeMoney; and her siblings: Betty Ellis, Mary Jane Ferretti, Juanita Hodges, Jimmy DeMoney, Ernest DeMoney, and Paul DeMoney. She is survived by her brothers, Bobby (Vicky) DeMoney and Jack (Rhonda) DeMoney, both of Madison, MS, as well as countless nieces and nephews who were the pride and joy of her life. Annie's legacy of love, faith, and good humor will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. A celebration of Annie's life will be held at Old Rice Road Baptist Church in Madison, MS, on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11:30 AM.
