I was blessed to have worked with Ms Thomas at Rowan Middle School for several years.She was so loved and respected by students and coworkers.she always wore a big smile for all she met,and provided a loving environment for all her kids.Many children's lives are better, because of contact with Ms Thomas.May GOD bless and keep her family in the days ahead.

Mrs. Thomas, as they say, you may not remember what people do but you’ll surely remember how they make you feel. To be able to impact so many children, now adults lives. I met Merrill my first year teaching at Rowan 1998. She was an amazing person. She saw the best in everyone. I cannot begin to think of the hours she stayed after school. She dedicated her life to children and touched many lives. If you knew her, you would understand. Merrill smiled with her eyes. She will be missed. Heaven gained a wonderful angel.

Sweet Merrill, you were my oldest best friend, along with Gretchen, from Woodhaven. We were always playing together or riding our bikes during a time when kids could do such things without fear. Now, both you and Gretchen have gone on to Heaven. I am so glad to have had you in my life and my memories of you always include you laughing and enjoying life. I hope that you and Gretchen have found each other and that you have reunited with your mother. I am sad that you are no longer with us, but I am glad to know that you are now free of pain and have been made whole again. I will see you again one day.
To your family, I pray that God will comfort them and allow them to find peace in the many wonderful memories of you they carry in their hearts.

Q: How did you meet Merrill?
A: I met Merrill at Rowan Middle where we embraced the students that God had placed in our path to teach and love. Merrill gave so much of herself…everyone knew she loved her students and Rowan. All of us worked as a team to show our students that we cared about them…Merrill was “momma” to many of our students. She did her best to teach them science and to not give up on them. Merrill will definitely be missed…she was a wonderful woman who gave of herself without hesitation. She exemplified what a caring and loving teacher was, and she was a wonderful woman of God! I will miss her.

Mrs. Thomas was one of my favorite teachers she really cared about us and made us feel loved every time we stepped into her classroom. I am so happy that my daughter got a chance to experience her too. She will greatly be missed.

Merrill grew up in Woodhaven Subdivision with my chldren and has remained friends with my daughter through the years. After we moved to Madison County, they stayed in touch and we were so saddened to see that she had passed away. I pray that God will give you peace and comfort in the days ahead.
