Marcia Savell Guymon, 77, passed away on January 7, 2025 at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison, MS after an 8 year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Marcia was born in Meridian, MS on September 17, 1947 to the late Cleatus and Catherine Crenshaw Savell. She would move to Scott County and was raised in the Forest, MS area. She graduated from Scott Central High School and attended East Central Community College. Marcia began to build her life by working in a variety of positions and locations in Mississippi and settled in Forest as a purchasing and inventory clerk at Chef Pierre Plant. She continued to work in the food service industry after her marriage and retired in December 2016 as a quality control manager at Valley Foods following a 28 year career. Marcia would meet her husband, Russell, on a blind date and their romance would blossom and their love for each other would grow through their 42 years of marriage. She would move to Clinton, MS and lovingly assume the role of Step-mom raising their son, Wes. They would later build and move to Lake Caroline in Madison County, where she immersed herself in lake style living. Marcia loved the sunset cruises with friends and the relationships that she made were everlasting. Marcia was an avid reader of fiction and mystery novels. She loved to knit and shopping with her friends. She loved to entertain friends and family and decorating her home at Christmas with her vast collection of Santa Clauses and ornaments that she collected on her travels. Marcia and Russell loved to travel and experienced multiple overseas trips and cruises. They traveled extensively throughout the United States, including trips to Hawaii, Alaska, many national parks and major cities. Marcia was an adventurous person and wanted to experience all that she could see and do on every trip. She is survived by her loving husband, Russell Guymon, son Wes Guymon (Amy), brothers Larry Savell, Rickie McGee (Cheryl), sisters Rita Humphrey and Vickie Lindsey (Marvin), many nephews and nieces, and great nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie McGee. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at First Baptist Church located at 2100 Main Street, Madison, MS 39110. Visitation will be at 10am - 11am, with service beginning at 11am. Natchez Trace Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Madison, MS or Alzheimer’s Association Mississippi, 207 W. Jackson Street, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
