Obituary of Anthony John Ignozzitto
Please share a memory of Anthony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Beloved husband and father Anthony John Ignozzitto went to be with the Lord on Wednesday January 15, 2025. Tony, as he was known, was born in 1946 in Brooklyn, New York to parents Sebastian John and Grace Marie Ignozzitto. Tony moved to California in 1959 where he attended Culver City High School and continued his education at West Los Angeles Junior College.
Tony would meet his wife, Linda Hall, in Palm Springs. They married in 1965. Together they raised three daughters: Rene, Amy, and Tina. While in California, Tony was vice president at Rayburn’s Plastics. The family moved to Mississippi to be closer to his wife’s family. Shortly after moving, Tony joined his father-in-law, the late Ernest Hall, Jr., to establish E & T Auto Detailers, Inc. It was there where Tony’s love of cars flourished. Through hard work, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent customer service, the bodywork repair shop continued to grow. Upon Ernest’s passing, Tony assumed the lead role.
Tony and Linda were members of Colonial Heights Baptist Church for many years. After relocating, they joined First Baptist Church of Madison. Tony was ordained as a deacon at Colonial Heights and immersed himself in the study of God’s word under the tutelage of his spiritual mentor, pastor and author Dr. J. Gerald Harris. With a heart of servitude, Tony ministered to the sick, the elderly, and others in need. When he wasn’t serving, he was sometimes engaged in pranks and other antics with his like-minded comrades Anthony Ingram, Connie Jo Hontzas, and Bill Conlee. It was Tony’s dear friend Dick Hall whose stoic disposition tended to anchor the misfit crew as much as could be expected.
Tony also had a great love of timepieces. He treasured his watches and antique clocks. And he was very fond of repairing his antiquing finds, the results of which could be found displayed in the family home as well as the homes of others to whom he would gift some of his work.
Tony is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda Hall Ignozzitto; daughters, Rene (Roger) Collins, Amy (Patrick) Feild, Tina (Ben) Bjornerud; grandchildren, Roger Adam (Cristina) Collins, Patrick Graham Feild, Annie Hall Feild, Brady Anthony Bjornerud, Lucy Hughes Bjornerud; sisters-in-law, Janice (Robert) Pietro and Donna (Paul) Blanda; and nieces and nephews, Bradley Hahn, Jason Foster, Ashley Foster, and Hillary Griffith. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Francine Michelle Hahn; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jean and Ernest Hall.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude for the excellent care that Tony received at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. Special thanks go to key members of his care team: Dr. Jared Taylor, Dr. Raymond Portis, Dr. Ajay Vongala, and Dr. Salvador EJ Arceo. In addition, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the Healthcare Administrator of
Highland Home, Jennifer Miciello, along with Dr. Tim Estes, Jeff Kitchens, and the nurses and aides who extended love and care to Tony in his last days.
The family will honor Tony with a private celebration of his life in the chapel at Madison Methodist Church.
