Obituary of Katie Jones Hammock

Katie Jones Hammock, 78, of Brandon, passed away on July 14, 2018 at her home.

She was born on January 19, 1940 to Clem and Johnsey Bowyer Jones in Thaxton, VA. She married Charles Edward Hammock 56 years ago and together they moved to the Jackson Metro area in 1983. Having been raised in the mountains of Thaxton, Virginia, she loved nature and the outdoors. Pretty Bird was her baby and she loved her grand dog Muffy. She spent much of her time reading and studying the Bible. Her son, Chuck, remembers their time together as best buddies, going shopping and to the movies when time allowed.

Katie is survived by her loving spouse Charles "Ed" Hammock, Sr., daughter, Jeanette Hammock Wax and her husband Dr. Tim D. Wax of Concord, NC ; son, Charles "Chuck" Hammock, Jr.and his wife Crystal Simoneaux Hammock of Brandon, MS; sisters, Naomi Jones Johnson of Baltimore, MD, Marie Jones Wright of Baltimore, MD; brother, Joseph T. Jones of Thaxton, VA and grandchildren, Jennifer Wax Harris of Vermont, Davis Edward Wax, John Stennis Wax and Michael Clifton Wax all of Concord, NC, Justin Paul Meche and Hannah Nicole Meche both of Brandon, MS.

She was preceded in death by Father, Clem P. Jones, Mother, Johnsey Bowyer Jones, sisters, Pauline Jones Blackenship and Ruby Jones Doxzen and brothers, Cliffton "Buster" Jones and Clem P. Jones, Jr.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2018, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison, MS.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, 2:00 pm at the Natchez Trace Funeral Home.
