Mamie and all,
Sam will be missed. I have such fond memories just of him from childhood that you would not know. He used to come to Henderson during molasses making. He would pick me up and place on the old mule who walked in a circle to grind the stalk.
On Sundays the whole group would come for Sunday dinner. Amy , Verna’s, not Sam-s had an imaginary friend, and we set a plate for him. As the butter melted in Mammy’s mashed potatoes, Uncle Sam said blessing or tried to, until Amy said, “Amen, Papa”. I would read scripts with Sam. I remember Cyrano. Sam was just in his glory. The sililoqy about the nose was his favorite. Oh, but you could have said, when it bleeds, the Red Sea. I guess the love of stage runs in the family
I will miss my sweet cousin.
