Obituary of Bruce Perry

Bruce Perry

Madison, MS

Mr. Bruce Perry 80, of Madison, MS was called home to be with the Lord on October 03, 2018 in Jackson, MS.    A visitation honoring Bruce will be held Saturday October 06, 2018 at Natchez Trace Funeral Home from 1-3 P.M.  A Celebration of Life service will follow at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison, MS.

Bruce was born June 16, 1938 to the Late Marshall Dabney Perry & Katie Bratcher Perry in West Memphis, Arkansas. In the mid 1950s as he was walking down the stairs to a Methodist Youth Fellowship meeting, a young lady caught his eye. She had a long black ponytail so he reached out and gave it a yank. After a loud OW! She gave him a swift kick to the shin and thus began a courtship that would span the next 60 years. Simply put there was no Bruce without Dyane (his spelling) or Missy, as he called her. Bruce graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Chemistry and soon thereafter began working for Exxon. In 1973 he moved the family to Jackson, Mississippi to start a carbide tool business with his father-in-law and brother-in-law, Pyramid Saw & Tool Co., Inc. and remained there until his retirement in 2012. Bruce was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed taking his family camping, water skiing and fishing. He loved working out and running. Eventually he would compete in multiple 5k races and even a marathon. Finally his love of working with his hands led many trees to become works of art, furniture and crown molding at his hand.

He is preceded in passing by his parents, Marshall & Katie Perry., one son, Bret Perry, one baby brother.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Diane Allen Perry of Madison, MS., one son, Alan Perry and his wife Paula of Madison, MS., seven grandchildren, Matthew Perry, Nathan Perry, Mary Catherine(M-Cat), Caleb Perry, Sam Perry, Karin Kahan, and Katherine Norsworthy., seven great- grandchildren., Kyleigh, Jaime, Cydney, Trayden, Madily, Macklyn, and Ellis.

In Lieu of Flowers the family wishes all donations be made to Webster Animal Shelter, 525 Post Oak Rd, Madison, MS 3911.
