Robert Daniel (Danny) Walters went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.  He passed away peacefully of natural causes at his home.  He was a lifetime member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

Danny was born on February 19, 1961, in Jackson, MS.  He was the son of Daniel W. and Jeannine B. Walters.  He was reared in Northeast Jackson, attended Jackson Public Schools and graduated from Callaway High School.

Danny was a member of Callaway High School’s baseball team where he was a left-handed pitcher and also played first base.  In addition, he was chosen to play on a number of Jackson area select baseball teams as a pitcher during his high school years.  In later years, Danny coached Little League baseball teams.  He attended Hinds Community College.   His work experience included employment with the Mississippi Filing Systems where he was a coordinator of the internal filing system for the company.  He also was a Courier for Cardinal Wholesale Drugs.  At the time of his death, he was employed by Wal-Mart as a Maintenance Facilities Manager.

The best way to describe Danny is happy.   He will always be remembered for his laughter. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and loved all family holiday gatherings, especially the food and the long naps that often followed.  He loved Ole Miss football and baseball, had a vast collection of all things Ole Miss and also collected baseball memorabilia.  He liked vacationing on the Florida beaches, especially Pensacola.  His hobbies were watching Ole Miss football games, baseball games, hunting with his father in his early years, traveling, swimming and diving.

Danny is survived by his loving parents, Jeannine and Dan Walters; his aunts and uncle, Bonny and Waymon Tigrett, Sylvia Burnham, Linda R. Burnham, and a number of cousins, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his brother, David Walters, and his grandparents, Auburn and Odell Burnham; grandparents J. W. and Hattie Bond Walters; and step-grandmother, Hilma Walters; aunts and uncles, Billy Ray Burnham, Claudia and Buddy Mott, Myrt and J. B. McCullough, and his longtime companion, Shreree’ Crosby.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
