Elwood Martin, age 84 , passed away on November 25, 2018 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He was born on January 24, 1934 to John Martin and Mercedes Desilvey Martin in Biloxi, MS.

Elwood loved his family and spending time with them. He also loved traveling, hunting and fishing and will also be remembered by his family as an excellent cook. He was a pillar of the Jackson Community. He was the owner of Martins Furniture and Appliances for 55 years and supported the Jackson Police and Fire Departments, where they all knew him, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Jackson Jaycees and Civitans. Prior to his professional career, Elwood served in the United States Air Force.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Ann Martin; children, Cynthia (Keith) Armstrong, Patrick Martin, Mark (Rosa) Martin, Tim (Tracy) Martin, David (Cassandra) Martin; sister, Barbara Martin; grandchildren, Timothy Martin, II, Melissa Martin, Mark Martin, Jr., Mariel Martin, Shawn Martin, Rochelle Martin, Tyler Armstrong, Luke Armstrong, Jacob Armstrong, Alissa Martin; great grandchildren, Natalie Adams, Jase Adams, Jozy Martin; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday November 27, 2018 at St. Francis Of Assisi from 5:00 pm until 6:45 pm with a Rosary Service to follow. A Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Wednesday at 11:00am with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will conclude in Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Saint Francis of Assisi 4000 W Tidewater Lane Madison, MS 39110.
