John was considered by some a hard man to get to know. Almost from the first moment I met him we seemed to form a connection that endured. Though we were very different in personality and interests, there was always a mutual respect between us. We would often spend time together on on one, and talked about many things over the years.
After my own father passed, I came to think of John as my second dad, and that bond never faded. Up to the end, he and I stayed close, and I enjoyed that closeness very much. I miss him now more than I could have imagined I would, and hold my memories of him as dear.
Rest in peace, my good friend and second dad. You were loved more than you knew.
