Every minute I ever spent with Charles in it was a pleasure! He told the best stories ever and just chatting with him was great! Even hanging out with him in his office as he wrapped the Christmas gifts he had collected for that event.
I had the good fortune to fly fish with him in local ponds, during which he taught me everything I know about the sport.
I frequently hooked a bream too small to keep and I excitedly tried to retrieve it.
As the little fish, with my poppin’ bug in his mouth, flew over our heads and our boat, Charles would patiently say “Don’t horse him, Ron”
I loved Charles (never Charlie to me) and I’ll remember him as long as I live.

I had no idea that Mr. Craig was in Heaven! My dear Mama, Faye Patterson worked with him in the 80/90s and he kept up with my Daddy and me after she passed. Loved his beautiful Christmas cards and was very amazed by the cast iron skillet that was created for my wedding gift!! My heart is with Mrs. Cathy and all of his family/friends. ❤️

Where do I start about this awesome man, Charlie Craig, who over 40 years ago saw such potential in a young man, Steve, that he hired him and gave him many opportunities to grow and be part of a lot of his own adventures. He took care of our family and blessed us so many times through the years...even up to Steve's retirement reception! We got to experience places and things we only dreamed about, but Charlie made it happen. When he believed in something, he gave his all to see it change or become a realty! I wrote a letter to him many years ago because I wanted him to know what I felt about him. I said that when someone dies, they can't hear all the love, respect, honor and appreciate for that person! I wanted to be sure he knew it! So, I say to you, don't waste time not telling someone you love them or whatever you find in that person that means so much, because one day, you get an unexpected text or call....saying they are gone! I have no doubt heaven has received one healthy, whole, priceless Man of God! I know we will so miss him!! Charlie Craig....we are blessed God allowed our paths to cross with yours!! Will always treasure the memories and all the special things you have given or done for us!! So love you Friend!! Praying for his family!

I've tried numerous times now to type out my thoughts about how how much Charlie has meant to me and how much I will miss him, but I just end up in tears and without words. I simply cannot yet wrap my head around the thought of a world without Charlie Craig in it. My heart is with Cathy and the family. I am praying peace over all of you, as well as the multitude of people who loved him..... and I surely did love him.

I only spent one day working for Charlie, he graciously shared some of his memories and works with me. He was one of The Greatest of The Greatest Generation.

Always Charles, never Charlie to me. Yet, my relationship with him was always as comfortable as a pair of soft, leather boots. I admired him immensely for his ability with stories and I always hung on every word - never quite knowing what to expect. Charles was highly intelligent and quick with his wit but infinitely patient with those of us who stood in his shadow.
He taught me so much about fly fishing, with popping' bugs, for stringers of bream and nice bass. I managed the net to retrieve the 6 3/4 lb largemouth he brought to the boat on 4 lb leader. I cherish the memory of him standing up in a jon boat, false casting to let out that long, perfect, arch of light green line. On the last forward throw, he would roll it at the perfect height to slip under the willow branches and skillfully let the bug just PLOP onto the surface. That PLOP was always quickly followed with the POW of a very angry bream!
And, just like today, I was always sad when the joy of sharing his presence had to end. My life was so much brighter when he was in it.

A wonderful talented man who’s path I crossed very few times in his lifetime, owing to the distance of countries. He left me with a lasting impression. I will never forget his hospitality, his humour and the love he showered on Cathy. He will be sadly missed.
