Dr. William C. Touchstone
Dr. William (Bill) C. Touchstone of Flora, MS passed away peacefully at St. Dominic Hospital on October 19, 2019 from pancreatic cancer.
He was born on June 5, 1939 to Carlisle and Kathleen Hunt Touchstone. He was preceded in death by his parents,Carlisle and Kathleen Touchstone; Son, Bob Touchstone, and two brothers, Carl Touchstone and Ike Touchstone. He is survived by his wife, Wanda McGraw Touchstone; Daughters, Elizabeth Touchstone, Thea Touchstone, and Kelleigh Cleveland; Son, Wesley Touchstone; Grandchildren, Bryce, Michael, Daniel, and Langston; and a special nephew, Dr. Alex Touchstone of Hattiesburg, MS.
He attended school in Gulfport, MS, and graduated from Hattiesburg High School in 1957, University of Southern Mississippi, and University of Mississippi School of Medical in 1965. He did his family medicine internship in Chattanooga, TN.
Dr. Touchstone was the last surviving physician who had worked at Mississippi State Sanitorium in Magee, MS. He had a family practice in Belzoni, MS, and had most recently worked for MS State Department of Corrections until a month before his death.
“Doc”, as he was affectionately called, was happiest when he was at his home in Flora on his tractor or doing woodwork.
Doc was a good storyteller and had a great sense of humor. He will be remembered affectionately for his kindness to his patients, colleagues, and friends. His goal was to always make those around him, especially his patients smile, and know he cared about them.
