Obituary of Richard "Rickye" Norris

~~Richard “Rickye” Gerald Norris left this world on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, to be re-united with his Heavenly Father.
He was born on September 26, 1946 and grew up in McCool, MS, the son of James “Jimmy” Vardaman Norris and Edna Blaine Norris. 
He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather that left behind many who remember and cherish the time they spent with him, including: Martha Fryery Norris, his wife of 47 years; daughter, Heather Norris Roberts (Shawn);  son, Richard “Ritchie” Gerald Norris II (Brandy), granddaughters, Madeline and Charlotte; sister, Bettye Payne (Johnny), niece, Johnna Henley (Lance) and sons, Payne and Parks; sister in law, Patsy Merritt Grayson, nephew, Thad Merritt; sister in law, Betsy Pearson (Dan).


He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.  He was known for his easy going smile and ability to connect with almost anyone.  He was a Vietnam-era Air Force veteran stationed in Alaska, Texas and Florida.  He retired as an engineering technology instructor from Holmes Community College, Ridgeland, in 2010 after 25 years of teaching. 


Funeral arrangements are at Natchez Trace Funeral Home on Highway 51 in Madison, Mississippi, on Saturday, September 9, 2017.  Visitation will be 12:30 to 3:00 with the funeral in the chapel at 3:00 and graveside services at Jessamine Cemetery in Ridgeland immediately following.
