Obituary of Martha Jean Thompson
Please share a memory of Martha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
“I heard a voice from Heaven saying unto me, blessed are the dead which die in
the Lord from henceforth…that they may rest form their labours.”
Revelation 14:13
The Lord is still in the business of picking beautiful flowers for His heavenly bouquet. As recent as Thursday, January 30, the Lord judiciously plucked another beautiful flower, Martha Jean Thompson, 66, as an addition to His heavenly bouquet. At 10:15 p.m., Martha peacefully relinquished her connection to this old world of pain and sorrow for a better world. We all will surely miss her being present in our lives.
Martha was born March 30, 1953, to the late parents Porter and Martha L. Wise in Goodman, MS. She graduated from Velma Jackson High in 1971. She recognized her calling in life at an early age. Time and time again, one could see and hear Martha talking and preaching to her dolls about right, wrong, and serving the Lord. After graduating, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she became a holy ghost-filled lady. From that time until her death, she was a warrior for the Lord. She often referred to herself as a “mouth piece” for the Lord.
There are many left here to cherish many beautiful memories and experiences they had with Martha: her husband of 26 years, Jack Thompson; two sons, Reginald (Carla) Luckett, Kansas City; Elsie Marvel (Lillie) Luckett Jr., Spring, TX; one daughter, Shanton (Maurice) Wilson, Jackson, MS; five brothers: Porter (Gwin) Wise, Jr., Goodman, MS; Willie (Ivory) Wise, Milwaukee, WI; James (Vickie) Wise, Milwaukee, WI; Earl (Ethel) Wise, Memphis, TN; Leslie (Bernice) Wise of Canton, MS who preceded her in death; a special Godmother, Lucille Sutton, Canton, MS; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There is truly an inner comfort in knowing that while Death often parts us from our loved ones,
it, at the same time, more closely unites us who are left behind to carry on.
