Eveline Gasquet Fenner Fuselier
1935-2020
Eveline passed away peacefully on a beautiful spring morning at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison, MS on Tuesday April 28, 2020. Born in New Orleans to Mr. Charles Payne Fenner Jr. and Clifford Chaffe Cocram. Upon graduating from St. Timothy’s School for Girls in Maryland, she attended Bradford Jr. College where she earned her Associates Degree in Art. She then married Louis Alfred Fuselier of New Orleans. She and her family moved to Jackson in the early 1960's from New Orleans where Louis worked to establish his law practice. Eveline was a strong, fun-loving woman who devoted her life to community volunteerism and enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and traveling. Eveline became very involved in many civic organizations, alumna events of St. Timothy’s and social clubs. As long-time member and sustaining member of the Junior League of Jackson, she chaired many of the Clubs charitable committees. She was instrumental in the establishment and operation of the Jackson Arts Festival. In addition, Eveline was a long- time board member of The American Red Cross Chapter and The Salvation Army where she worked tirelessly through the Pearl River floods of 1979 and 1982. Eveline and Louis together served as President of the 21 Club of The Country Club of Jackson, and Eveline remained active in Southern Luncheon Club and Calliope Dance Clubs until her death. She was an avid reader who enjoyed Elizabethan history and Tales of King Arthur in particular. She loved to travel the world and spend time with her family and friends.
She moved to St. Catherine’s after the death of her husband where she lived out the rest of her life.
Preceded by her husband Louis A. Fuselier, Sr. and her sisters Corrine and Emily; she is survived by her siblings Clifford, Elise Charles, Andre, Pierre, Elise Connolly; and three children, Louis A. Fuselier, Jr (Marilyn), Henri C. Fuselier (Brenda), and Elizabeth F. Ellis (Jerry); eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services at St. Catherine’s with internment in New Orleans to be announced when allowed.
In lieu of Flowers donations may be made to the Jackson Chapter American Red Cross, Salvation Army or the Mississippi Children’s Museum.
