Christine Threet Rodgers Johnson June 25, 1932 – August 28, 2020 Christine Threet Rodgers Johnson “Chris”, 88, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 28, 2020, at Manhattan Nursing Home in Jackson, MS. Born June 25, 1932 in Attala County, Chris was the only child of Ulyss and Pinkie Threet. Chris was married to the first love of her life, Warren Rodgers, for 26 years and was married to the second love of her life, Frank Johnson, for 13 years. Chris was preceded in death by her first husband, Warren Rodgers, in 1977 and by her second husband, Frank Johnson, in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Roxanne Rodgers Reece, in 2016. Chris was a devoted Christian and a member of First Baptist Church – Madison. She was a sixty-year resident of Madison, MS who loved her community. She always enjoyed doing for others, whether it was taking refreshments to the fire or police station or helping someone in need – she was there for you. Chris was well known for her hostess and cooking skills and really enjoyed having company – she always had a cup of coffee and dessert ready to offer to everyone - family, friends, repairman, anyone. Chris retired from AT&T in 1991 with over 30 years of service. Chris is survived by her two loving children, Randy Rodgers (Lucy) of McCool, MS and Twanna Rodgers Ivey (Glen) of Madison, MS. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Dawn Rodgers May (Chris) and Ryan Christopher Ivey; and three great grandchildren, James Tyler Poe, Maggie Malone May and Ruby Adeline Reece. Chris was honored to have been step-mom to Dawn Johnson Nordan, Shiela Johnson Little, Keith Johnson and Sherry Johnson Dodson. Due to COVID-19 limitations, a graveside service will be held for family and close friends on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Jessamine Cemetery in Ridgeland, MS under the direction of Natchez Trace Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Manhattan Nursing Home and HomeCare Hospice for their kind and compassionate care over the last several weeks. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Organization.
