Mrs. Dorothy Ann McDonald 78, of Brandon, MS was called home to be with the Lord on October 16, 2017. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct 18, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Natchez Trace Funeral Home with Graveside service following in Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery located at 759 Hwy 51, Madison, MS
Dorothy Ann McDonald was born on November 27, 1938 to Charles and Goldena Crowell in Greenwood, MS. Dorothy Married the love of her life Herman McDonald in 1956. They moved to Greenville, MS in 1979 where they would raise their children, and call home for over 30 years. Mrs. Dorothy was a stay at home mom who loved to cook and work outside. She loved her family with all her heart, and her fondest memories were Christmas time surrounded by her family and friends. Most would say Mrs. Dorothy’s proudest moment, and greatest accomplishment was becoming a wife and more than anything becoming a mother. It was a blessing for her to be home, and to be able to take care of her children. Her late husband, Herman McDonald told Mrs. Dorothy, “I’ll work as many jobs as possible so that you can stay home raising our children.” Mrs. Dorothy was a godly woman who loved her husband, children, and grandchildren, and she absolutely adored her great grandchildren.
She is preceded in passing by her loving husband of 56 wonderful years, Herman McDonald, her parents, Charles & Goldena Crowell, one grandson, Eric Woodard, one granddaughter, Haley McDonald Samaranayake.
She is survived by one son, Robert McDonald and his wife Ruth of Friendswood, TX., two daughters, Marty Woodard and her husband Kerry of Brandon, MS., Cassie Southerland of Brandon, MS four grandchildren, Courtney Shoemaker of Brandon, MS., Clayton Southerland of Ridgeland, MS., Brandi Southerland of Ridgeland, MS., and Amanda McDonald of Sugarland, MS., two great-grandchildren, Cristian and Alexa Shoemaker of Brandon, MS. One loving family pet, Ace.
