Please share a memory of Mitchell to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mitchell Conner Brown, age 65, went home to be with our Lord on the first day of March, 2021. Mitchell was born December 13, 1955 at St. Dominics Hospital in Jackson, MS to Patsy Jordan Brown Blackwell and Conner Brown. He was the oldest of three boys, brother to Danny and Kerry. Mitch spent time growing up with family in Sebastapol and Jackson, MS on Plantation Boulevard. Growing up, much of his time was spent playing in the woods with his brothers and cousins, building tree forts, cabins, and exploring fields and creeks nearby. He was baptized at Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Jackson. He graduated from Callaway High School in 1974. After high school, he attended Mississippi State University where he met his wife of 43 years, Nettie Dennery Brown. Mitch and Nettie were married on Feb 18, 1978 and, shortly after, started their family with the birth of their oldest son, Nicholas. They moved into their first and only home in Madison, MS in 1983. Shortly after, they welcomed the birth of daughter Alexandra in 1986, and 13 years later in April of 1999 they were blessed with their third child, Christopher. Mitch worked at Callaway Gardens as a teenager where he met his future mother and father in law before meeting his future wife, Nettie. He had many passions, including owning and operating a fishing tackle shop named Brown’s Bass Angler Shop in Jackson, MS. He also owned and operated a wine and liquor store in Clinton, MS. Years later, he started his Santa business and became known as Santa Mitch by friends and family. Mitch began selling boats, which he discovered he had a passion for, and sold boats for many years at RJ’s Outboard. He was a natural at it. His laid back personality and genuine love for people made him the person he was. Mitch was known for his love of the outdoors. He loved to fish and ride his motorcycles. He loved music, especially the Allman Brothers. But, above all else, he loved spending time with his family - his wife, his three children and three grandchildren. Mitch had a warm heart. He loved people and people loved him. He never met a stranger. His personality was larger than life and he loved to laugh and make others laugh. He will be missed by his friends and family. He was one of a kind, his memory will be forever eternal. Mitch was preceded in death by his father, Conner Brown. He is survived by his wife Nettie Brown; children Nicholas Brown (Lisa), Alexandra Wills (Frank), and Christopher Brown; Grandchildren Alexander and Abigail Brown, and John Lawson Wills; Mother Patsy Blackwell and brothers Danny Brown (Carolyn), and Kerry Brown (Jo). Please know that all the love, prayers and messages to our beloved Mitch are deeply appreciated. We are so thankful to the Madison Police Department, First Responders and UMMC Adult ER Trauma Unit and SICU doctors, nurses, and staff. Visitation, funeral, and burial will be held at Natchez Trace Funeral Home Madison, MS. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 5th at 10 am, directly followed by funeral service at 11am.
