Obituary of Dawn C. Brunson
Dawn Chapman Brunson, 65, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, following a four-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on June 8, 1955 in Newton, MS.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents William Larkin Chapman Sr. and Helen Chapman of Newton, MS. She is survived by her loving husband of forty-one (41) years Alan Brunson of Madison, MS, her son Reed Brunson of Madison, MS, her daughter Lori Wilson (Bennett) of Terry, MS, her brother Larkin Chapman, Jr. (Pam) of Flora, MS, her mother-in-law Essie Brunson of Union, MS, her sister-in-law Janice Muse (Duck) of Terry, MS, her sister-in-law Janet Shealy (Donald) of Terry, MS and her nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
Dawn’s greatest joys in life were her children. She cared for her children in every sense of the word and was involved in every moment of their lives, whether big or small. Dawn loved being outside and animals of all kinds, but she loved her Labrador Retrievers (Beau, Louie and Susannah) the most. She found peace in sitting on the back-porch swing with her dogs watching the birds, while being surrounded by beautiful flowers.
She shared a great love for her friends, their bunco-filled nights, and their trips to the beach. She loved the beach in the spring and summer and mountains in the winter. Trips with her friends and family were what she looked forward to all year long.
Dawn’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Christie Haygood at St. Dominic’s Hospital, Erin Wall at Tradition’s Home Health and Hospice Care and the nurses at the St. Dominic’s Infusion Center, all of whom took great care of her during her battle with cancer.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at First Baptist Church Madison in Madison, MS at 12:00 PM with visitation before the service from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
