Obituary of Samuel Buford Harris

Sam was born in Madison, MS on November 8, 1942. He graduated from Madison Ridgeland High School in 1960 where he was a member of the basketball, football, and track teams. He was a member of the Crescendo Club, Choral Group, 4-H Club and served as senior class Vice-President. He went on to earn a Business Administration degree in Marketing and Sales Management at the University of Mississippi. After graduation, he worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative until his retirement. After retiring, Sam enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandchildren, following Ole Miss sports, and eating out with his many friends. Sam was known best for his big heart, kindness and easygoing nature.
Sam was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Madison for 46 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius Stokes Harris and Mary Ellen Nicholson Harris; sister, Marian Quinn and brother, J.S. “Brother” Harris. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Dale Graham Harris; his daughter, Kathy (Michael) Waltman; stepdaughters Cheryl (Alan) Hendrix and Karen (Steve) Reed; and his seven grandchildren, Matt, Beth, Kristi, Katie, Sarah, Marian and Ann Carter.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bobby Graham for his compassionate care of Sam over the years.
A graveside service will held at Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery in Madison, MS on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.
